More two women per week are killed by current or ex-partners!
At least 1 in 4 women
experience domestic violence in their lifetime and between 1 in 8 and 1 in 10 women experience it annually.
Less than half of all incidents are reported to the police, but they still
receive one domestic violence call every minute in the UK.
Children are also affected by
domestic violence. The majority of children witness the violence that is occurring, and in 90% of
cases they are in the same or next room (Hughes, 1992). Children can 'witness' domestic violence in many different ways.
Where it is possible Working Wardrobe in Partnership with the host venue are able to offer the children a crèche place for the 6 weeks, so that the mums know that while they are gaining the skill they need to move on, their children are secure and have a safe place to play.
